Look who’s on TV!
Class 4 had an exciting opportunity to appear on the Three TV show 7DAYS, which aired tonight! It was a fun and memorable experience being part of the action and seeing how a TV show is made.

If you missed it, you can catch the episode on Three+1 at 8:30pm tonight, or stream it anytime on the ThreeNow app. (M – suitable for mature audiences 16 years of age and over.)

Please note: While our tamariki appear briefly during a game segment, the show includes adult themes in the comedians’ discussions. We recommend that parents watch first and use their discretion around which parts to share with their children.

Class 3’s Journey Through Time

Class 3’s Journey Through Time

Our tamariki in Class 3 have just completed their Time and Seasons Main Lesson — a hands-on exploration of how humans have marked time through the ages. From watching the sun and moon, to learning the days and months in English, Te Reo Māori, and German (with dancing and clapping along the way!), they brought time to life.
They traced their shadows, crafted sundials, experimented with ancient candle and water clocks, and even built their own wooden clocks in the Outdoor Classroom — shaping both short and long hands themselves.
This rich, creative journey unfolded deep understanding, while naturally weaving in literacy and maths skills.

Ko te wā – he taonga!
Time is a treasure.

To celebrate Easter, our high school students brought joy and wonder to the younger tamariki by organising a beautiful Easter hunt.

Wrapped in colourful tissue, each hidden “egg” held a special surprise – a flower bulb, lovingly prepared as a gift for Classes 1-7. 🌷

After the excitement of the hunt, the lower school students planted their treasures around the school grounds. We look forward to seeing the fruits of their mahi bloom next spring – a living reminder of generosity, connection, and the cycle of the seasons.🌱☀️

As part of the History and Art of Writing Main Lesson, Class 5 students made quills 🪶✒️. These primary writing tools, used during the medieval era, are still in use today by professional scribes, calligraphers, avid collectors, and those interested in historical writing.

Through hands-on experiences in the outdoor classroom program, Steiner believed that children learn best through concrete, sensory experiences – reflected in the careful cutting and shaping of feathers. This activity also connects them to the natural world, enhances fine motor skills, and fosters an appreciation for traditional craftsmanship.

As part of their Surveying Main Lesson, Class 10 embarked on a two-night camp to Whatipu, on Auckland’s rugged west coast.

This immersive experience allowed students to put theory into action! Working in teams, they applied Linear and Radial Surveying techniques, measuring distances with tapes and bearings with compasses. The culmination of their efforts? A detailed, scaled map of Whatipu Campsite, presented in a beautifully crafted poster.

Beyond the surveying work, students stayed at the historic Whatipu Lodge, one of New Zealand’s oldest liveable buildings. Their time away also included exploring the vast beach and mysterious caves, deepening their connection with the land.

This camp was not just about learning skills – it was about whakamātau, mahi tahi, and tūhura (practical application, teamwork, and exploration). An unforgettable journey of hands-on education!
