This immersive experience allowed students to put theory into action! Working in teams, they applied Linear and Radial Surveying techniques, measuring distances with tapes and bearings with compasses. The culmination of their efforts? A detailed, scaled map of Whatipu Campsite, presented in a beautifully crafted poster.
Beyond the surveying work, students stayed at the historic Whatipu Lodge, one of New Zealandβs oldest liveable buildings. Their time away also included exploring the vast beach and mysterious caves, deepening their connection with the land.
This camp was not just about learning skills – it was about whakamΔtau, mahi tahi, and tΕ«hura (practical application, teamwork, and exploration). An unforgettable journey of hands-on education!

Class 12, in their final year, take on Friedrich DΓΌrrenmattβs The Visit, transforming the stage into the crumbling town of GΓΌllen. The students bring to life the townspeopleβs desperation, their shifting morality, and the chilling power of Claire Zachanassianβs wealth. With a minimalist set emphasizing decay and looming greed, the performance focuses on the tension between justice and corruption. Alfred IIIβs tragic fate unfolds with eerie inevitability as the ensemble gradually succumbs to temptation. Through powerful movement, lighting, live music, and insightful costume, the students present a gripping exploration of human nature, making their final-year production unforgettable.
