Class 8 recently returned from an epic week-long camp, that started with flying to Christchurch and heading straight to the Boyle River Outdoor Education Centre in the beautiful Lewis Pass. The week challenged the class and brought them all closer together.

The aims of the week were to challenge themselves, step outside their comfort zones and try new things. And wow, did our Class 8 students rise to the challenge. They tackled river tubing through icy currents, problem-solved on the low ropes, climbed into the sky on the high ropes, clambered up a rock face, tramped through beautiful bush, slept in the bush for a night and navigated with maps and compasses like seasoned explorers. They even rolled up their sleeves for some gorse clearing down by the river and, naturally, ended up gloriously muddy at one point!

Between all that action, there was loads of good food, shared stories, big laughs, and a lot of special camp moments that live on long after the backpacks are unpacked.

We’re so proud of the courage, cooperation and kindness shown throughout the week. Well done, Class 8, for stepping up, doing hard things and being a fantastic group to take on camp!
